Running Puppy
Prerequisite: Puppies must be comfortable working in close proximity to other dogs and people in an active environment.

This class is built on the latest knowledge about puppy development and behavior. Classes are taught using positive reinforcement, reward-based method using food as the reward. This class is designed especially for puppy training, early socialization, and to strengthen the dog/human relationship and bond. Emphasis is on building confidence in your puppy using positive reinforcement interactions with other puppies, people, and the environment.

This is the best time to start teaching your puppy the behaviors you want him to do for you for the rest of your lives together. Puppies are learning every minute, with or without our influence. The key is to provide an environment to make learning good manners easy and learning inappropriate behavior difficult.

Topics Covered

  • Socialization with other dogs and people

  • Low-level exposure to a variety of sounds, different surfaces, objects that move, and more.

  • Problem solving (house training, crate training, biting, jumping, chewing, etc.)

  • Puppy manners foundations: name/attention game, sit, down, trade, come, and walking on leash are just some of the behaviors we will introduce.

Vaccination Requirements

Puppies must have received minimum of 1 set of vaccines at least 7 days prior to the first class (often called DHPP), 1 round of Bordatella (if intranasal, 4 days before class), and be free of any internal or external parasites. Many puppy vaccination packages do not include the Bordatella vaccination, so please ask your veterinarian about this additional vaccination and if this class is appropriate for your puppy.

Please bring documentation of vaccinations to orientation on week 1.
